The physician reports the specialty they practice at the time of initial credentialing and then on a quarterly basis, the physician validates this information. MAHP has a policy that states the physician must be board certified or eligible in the specialty they practice. 

Each physician reports to MAHP at the time of initial credentialing the hospitals they have privileges with and the type of privileges they have and on a quarterly basis, the physician validates this information. 

On a quarterly basis, each physician reviews their information on file and reports to MAHP if they are accepting new patients. This pertains to Primary Care Physicians such as Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Acute Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Practice, and Women\’s Health and also Behavioral Health Physicians. 

A physician reports to MAHP languages that they speak and on a quarterly basis, the physician validates this information. 

Entering City, State and Zip will select only providers that meet all three criteria. 

While zip radius can only be entered with a zip, all other search fields still apply. A city value will further limit data selected to only that city. 

Board certification is reported by the physician at the time of initial credentialing and recredentialing and MAHP verifies the Board Certification and expiration date with each specialty board every three years. Any physician credentialed after November, 2005 is required to be Board Certified or Board Eligible in the specialty they practice. Any physician credentialed before November, 2005 was grandfathered in. On a quarterly basis, the physician validates this information. All physicians applying for providership must be ABMS or AOA specialty board certified or have completed the board eligibility prerequisites.
